The rule book, as data

Every deadline Filing Guardian shows comes from one of these rules. This page shows them side by side, market by market.

Crosswalk

Dated filings, market by market

Each cell gives the offset in days, the suspension or sanction clock, and the rule it comes from, cited by the rule book's own numbering. Where a cell says not encoded, the rulebook data has no rule of that kind for that market. Offsets are calendar days. The Micro Market column repeats the Junior Market dates, and names the two rules that send it there.

Standing obligations and event rules

Rules without a due date

Duties that hold all year, steps that a dealing or a delay sets off, and the one timing rule that comes from statute rather than a listing rule. Working days here mean JSE business days.

Micro Market

What the Micro Market adds

The Micro Market is Junior Market Tier 2: Appendix 10 of the Junior Market Rule Book, in force from 13 April 2026. Because Rule 1001 applies the Junior Tier 1 rules to a Micro Market issuer unless Appendix 10 expressly modifies them, the filing dates in the two tables above hold unchanged. These are the rules Appendix 10 adds on top of them.

Calendar

Public holidays the engine knows

The JSE holiday table the engine checks every due date against. A due date on one of these days, or on a weekend, is flagged so the filing goes in on the business day before.

Verification

Notes still open

Every number in the rule book has a verification entry. These are the ones still being checked against the current rule book text or the JSE's practice; each shows up as a footnote wherever it touches a date.

Change log

What changed

Rule changes, calendar changes and standards notes that affect how a date is worked out or how a statement is laid out. The version string travels with every calendar the engine produces, so a saved calendar can always say which rule book made it.

Rulebook jse-2025.2

Rulebook jse-2025.2 superseded jse-2025.1. The version number steps whenever a number in the rule data changes, so a saved calendar can always name the version that made it; the change from jse-2025.1 is not itemised here. Every offset, clock and citation on this page was checked against the primary documents on 16 Aug 2026: the JSE Junior Market Rule Book (revised January 2025), the JSE Main Market Rule Book (Rules 407 to 411, Listing Agreement para 16, Appendix 7) and the Companies Act 2004, s.126(1).

2027 public holidays are provisional V-6

The JSE had published its holiday table for 2024 to 2026 only. The 2027 row is derived by the same method that reproduces the JSE's 2026 table exactly, and it stays provisional until the official table appears. When the JSE publishes, the row is replaced and the calendar horizon moves on by itself.

IFRS 18 from 1 January 2027

IFRS 18 changes how the income statement is presented for periods beginning on or after 1 January 2027. This is a note about statement layout, not a deadline: no filing date on this page moves because of it. It matters for how the figures in a report are captioned, which is why it is recorded here.

Citations moved to the July 2026 rule books jse-2026.1

The July 2026 editions of the Junior Market and Main Market Rule Books are the current ones, and the rule data now cites them. Appendix 2 Part 4, which carries the 45, 60, 90 and 120 day offsets and both suspension sentences, is substantively identical to the January 2025 text, so no deadline on this page moved: the version step records the change of edition, not a change of number. The July 2026 print also carries the paragraph lettering that text extraction from the older edition had lost, which closes the last caveat in V-10.

The Micro Market, in force from 13 April 2026

Appendix 10 of the Junior Market Rule Book creates the Micro Market, Junior Market Tier 2, with an effective date of 13 April 2026 printed at its end. Rule 1001 applies the Junior Tier 1 rules to a Micro Market issuer unless Appendix 10 expressly modifies them, and Rule 1006(c) applies Appendix 2 to its financial reporting, so a Micro Market issuer files on the Junior timetable: no new offsets, one more column in the crosswalk above.

What Appendix 10 adds of its own is in the Micro Market section: the Rule 1007 annual fee, the Rule 1008(b) minimum 24 month Sponsor term, the Rule 1006(a) migration once capital passes J$100 million, the Rule 1010(c) 90 day cure, and the standing board, Sponsor, Mentor, assurance, shareholder spread and holding rules. The rule text behind each of them is quoted in verification note V-12.
